The International Society of Environmental Bioindicators (ISEBI) is a young society but nevertheless a potential source of indicators for forest health. The web site is: www.informaworld.com/1555-5275, where you can find contents of the first 7 issues of the society's journal, Environmental Bioindicators. If you click on "News and Offers" you can find a summary of the last ISEBI annual conference held in June in Hong Kong. Allan Carroll of the Pacific Forestry Centre in Victoria, Canada was one of the keynote speakers. He discussed how the mountain pine beetle is signaling the effects of climate change on the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Climate change and past forest management practices have caused the mountain pine beetle to spread throughout British Columbia, causing ecological and economic effects. I am looking for actual ecological outcome measures versus management application measures. Any input would be appreciated.
