I have just been asked to put together a short overview of ecological
theory that has been useful in thinking about butterfly conservation (e.g.
metapopulation theory, indicator species, inbreeding depression, reserve
design, etc). I decided that one way to learn what people find useful is
to write to fellow academics and practitioners and ask.
If you work in the field of butterfly conservation and have thoughts about
either question below, that would be great!
1) What are your top five ecological theories which are useful for
butterfly conservation (or fewer is fine, too) and/or,
2) Describe an example of a way you have seen ecological theory used to
advance butterfly conservation and whether it has been successful,
unsuccessful or it is too soon to know.
I would be most delighted if you could help me out. I will
gather response through November 25, 2007. Please pass this on to others
who you think might be interested in helping out.
Thanks!!!!
Cheers,
Cheryl Schultz
