Faculty Position Assistant Professor: Plant Population Genetics â Focus on Conservation Genetics (Extended deadline to January 15th, 2008) The Department of Biological Sciences at Florida International University (FIU) and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden (FTBG) invite applications for a tenure- track faculty position in Plant Population Genetics with a focus on Conservation Genetics. The successful applicant will help design a new Center for Tropical Plant Conservation at FTBG. As a faculty member he/she will develop an extramurally funded research program that supports excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring of graduate students. The joint FIU â FTBG research program focuses on tropical plant conservation with a major emphasis on palms, cycads, and the flora of South Florida and the Caribbean region. Teaching duties will include Genetics and Population Genetics. Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience that includes strong grant skills and publishing record are required.
