Nadine et al.,

That’s great news – congratulations to Michelle and the ESA! If ESA adopts a
position on economic growth, a pre-existing reputation for "Walking the Talk"
will be highly beneficial. When the American Society of Mammalogists adopted
it’s position on economic growth this summer, there were calls for walking the
talk, too. It seems that the macroeconomic approach can engender the
microeconomic approach, and vice versa - good thing since they’re both required
to raise that "sustainability bar."

The Ecological Society of America and its Meetings Manager, Michelle
Horton, are featured in an article appearing in the December issue of
Convene, a meetings industry magazine. The article titled "Walking the
Talk" notes that "When the Ecological Society of America gets together,
it tends to raise the "sustainability bar" for the rest of the meetings
industry."
