Hello, =20 I am a senior Biology major at Hiram College (Hiram, Ohio - = www.hiram.edu = <https://mail.hiram.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=3Dhttp://www.hiram.edu/= > ) interested in entering the ecology field. My experiences and = interests lie within marine and freshwater ecology, and in particular = field station-based research that allows one to become immersed not only = in study but also in nature. I have been a student employee at Hiram's = James H. Barrow Field Station during my entire undergraduate career and = this experience has heightened my appreciation for the foundations of a = field station - not only scientific research, but educational outreach, = community involvement, land stewardship, and husbandry practices.=20 =20 I have decided not to enter graduate school this fall in order to gain = experience in the field that will prepare me for entering a graduate = program in the future. My lifelong interest lies among coral reef = ecosystems, with recent draws toward coral taxonomy and mangrove = physiology. Recently, I have led a watershed conservation project at = Hiram College and a summer science iniative for local high school = students. Both of these opportunities have broadened my interests to = include freshwater ecology and its counterpart in science education.=20 =20 Please consider me for any positions you may be looking to fill within = these areas. I am sending this post because I will be out of the country = until April 10th, 2008 (studying the biomes of the Northern Hemisphere = and climate change impacts on their water resources) and will have = limited, yet occasional, access to communication. Thank you for your = consideration. =20 More information about my Biomes of the World semester can be found at: = http://biodiversity.hiram.edu/modules/biomes.html = <https://mail.hiram.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=3Dhttp://biodiversity.h= iram.edu/modules/biomes.html>=20 =20 Sincerely,=20 =20 Erin Sams =20 Hiram College P.O.
