Post-doctoral project manager required

A 4.5 year EPA-funded project, Sectoral IMpacts=20
on BIOdiversity and ecoSYStem services=20
(SIMBIOSYS), is seeking a postdoctoral project=20
manager. Biodiversity and associated ecosystem=20
services are fundamental to humanity but are=20
threatened by human activity in a range of=20
sectors. This project, involving researchers at=20
TCD, UCD and UCC, will quantify impacts of key=20
sectoral activities (in particular: cultivation=20
of bioenergy crops, road landscaping and=20
aquaculture) on genetic, species and landscape=20
biodiversity and the ecosystem services they=20
provide, including pollination, biological pest=20
control, carbon sequestration and resistance to=20
alien species invasion. In addition, we will test=20
methods for mitigating impacts, carry out=20
in-depth strategic reviews in order to inform=20
national policy decisions, and make=20
recommendations for future strategic research and management.

Position Available: 4.5 year postdoctoral project=20
manager, based in the School of Natural Sciences,=20
Trinity College Dublin=20

The project manager will oversee the day to day=20
management of the project and the development of=20
strategic reviews. In addition, he/she may=20
co-supervise PhDs, contribute to experimental=20
design and analysis and publish some key international peer-review articles.

Salary: up to =8047,217 per annum, depending on experience

Start Date: 2nd April 2008.

Applicants must have a PhD in=20
biological/environmental science, be an effective=20
communicator and good manager of data, time and=20
people. In addition, 3-4 years post-PhD research=20
experience, experience of managing research=20
grants and projects and timely publication in=20
respected peer review journals would be=20
beneficial. Applicants should be competent in=20
computing, ideally including statistical=20
analysis, website design and database management.
