Position Announcement
POSITION TITLE:Field Station Coordinator/Biologist
Blackbird Field Station, Turneffe Atoll, Belize
Seasonal Position: mid-January through May, 2008
I.General Function
Responsibilities include serving as the field biologist for the
coral reef monitoring program, serving as a marine naturalist for
ecotour groups, plus limited administrative tasks. Report to the
Field Program Manager in San Francisco for day-to-day activities,
and to the Executive Director for policy and fiscal matters. Work
in cooperation with the Field Station Operations Manager. The
Field Station Coordinator interfaces with visiting scientists,
the on-site dolphin researcher, resident staff, and the public.
II.Field Biologist: Function as resident coral reef field
investigator. Lead volunteers conducting shallow water transect
fish counts. Responsible for training, data collection and data
reduction.
III.Marine Naturalist: Conduct an educational snorkeling program
for visiting ecotourists. Includes interpretation and evening
lectures.
IV.Field Station Coordinator: Function as the Oceanic Society
on-site representative with visiting scientists and visitors.
