Announcement of the âSPE International Conference on
Health, Safety & Environmentâ
The Society of Petroleum Engineers invites experts
interested in climate issues to attend its
International Conference on Health, Safety &
Environment (HSE), scheduled for 15â17 April in
Nice, France. The event will discuss matters related
to climate change, public health needs in developing
countries, and other pressing social responsibility
issues.
The technical, panel, and knowledge-sharing
presentations fall into five categories: safety,
social responsibility, HSE management, environment,
and health.
Topics include
· CO_2 sequestration
· Asset integrity
· Human rights
· Risk management
· Sensitive environments
· Infectious diseases
· Emergency response
In terms of *Carbon Capture and Storage*, experts will
present the technical challenge and address how the
regulatory framework can help or kill the use of CO_2
sequestration. The speakers will also present the
business framework needed to make the process a part
of the range of answers to the greenhouse effect.
