West Virginia Rivers Coalition works to protect water quality
throughout the State of West Virginia. Because the State is the
source of many rivers that drain into the Ohio and Potomac
watersheds, water quality in the State impacts water quality for
millions of individuals.
Candidates for the Conservation Director position should have an
understanding of the Clean Water Act and other water quality
regulations that impact water resources in the State. The director
will be responsible for a broad range of duties including: monitoring
and reviewing State-wide water pollution permits; monitoring
legislative activities; participation in public and stakeholder
meetings; providing public education and outreach programs; and
fielding concerns and questions from citizens. The director will work
closely with the Executive Director to implement grant-funded projects
and will assist in grant-writing activities. The director will develop
and maintain extensive ties with assorted organizations to build a
successful watershed movement in West Virginia.
Candidates should be self-motivated and have experience working in a
collaborative environment, preferably in the non-profit sector.
Applicants should have a degree in a related area and/or 3-5 years of
appropriate experience.
