SUMMER POSITION IN FOREST ECOLOGY IN WESTERN MONTANA

DESCRIPTION: Field assistant position available to assist with an 
investigation of the efficacy of conventional and novel sampling designs 
for estimating the abundance of native and nonnative plants. 
Responsibilities will include surveying plot boundaries, estimating plant 
abundance, and identifying understory plants to species.

Field sites are located within the Fire and Fire Surrogate (FSS) 
restoration study site in University of Montana’s Lubrecht Experimental

This position is best suited to upper-level undergraduates, recent 
graduates, or experienced field workers who are interested in forest/plant 
ecology. 

QUALIFICATIONS:   Previous field experience, experience sampling forest 
understory vegetation, familiarity with flora of western Montana, and 
ability to utilize taxonomic keys and to collect and catalogue plant 
specimens. 
Individuals who enjoy field work and working with others, pay attention to 
detail, and can work long hours under a variety of field conditions are 
encouraged to apply.

SALARY:  Commensurate with qualifications and past experience

LODGING:   Lodging may be available at Lubrecht Experimental Forest

DURATION:  June through August 2008
