One that is out of print, but everyone should read and think about is
Richard Vogl's "A Primer of Ecological Principles." It cuts through
all the you-know-what. It is probably used as a "cheat sheet" by
more ecologists than would like to admit it. I have misplaced my
copy, however, so have had to "wing it." If I ever find it again,
the quality of my posts should improve. One of the smartest
ecologists that ever trod the planet. Lightly.
