Postdoctoral Position Department of Forest, Rangeland and Watershed Stewardship Colorado State University
Position Description: Innovative, independent, and highly motivated candidates are sought to conduct postdoctoral research as part of a NSF funded, international, multidisciplinary research team focusing on ecosystem and herder vulnerability to climate change and extreme weather events on the Tibetan Plateau. We are using experimental, observational, and modeling approaches in this project. The postdoctoral candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to on-going efforts, such as establishing a multi-factorial experimental manipulation (warming, snow addition, grazing), as well as to develop new research related to the project, depending on the candidate’s skills and interests. The candidate will design, conduct, analyze and publish innovative research and is expected to interact closely with scientists and other project participants. If time permits, the candidate can also participate in or initiate grant writing and conduct research related to climate change in high elevation regions of Colorado. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in ecology, environmental science, or a related field completed by time of appointment is required. Candidates should have experience in ecosystem ecology, plant community ecology, soil ecology, biogeochemistry, isotope ecology, or coupled human-natural systems. Candidates should be able to work well both independently and as part of a larger, international, multidisciplinary research team. Experience working/living in developing countries and/or in remote mountainous regions is advantageous. Candidates with excellent written and oral communication skills and who have an established publication record are particularly encouraged to apply. Term: The position is available for one year with the possibility of extension on a year-to-year basis. Renewal of appointment is contingent on performance. The position is available immediately.
