Overview

Under the supervision of the Executive Director for Sustainable Development, the Program Manager will coordinate the management of the program’s grants portfolio and lead new and ongoing initiatives related to the sustainability of community-based enterprises.


 Reporting Relationships/Scope

The Program Manager reports to the Executive Director of Sustainable Development and is a member of the Sustainable Development Program team. The Program Manager coordinates activities with other team members and relevant UN Foundation staff.



Responsibilities/Deliverables


§ Assist the Executive Director for Sustainable Development in grant management efforts, such as: - Provide technical assistance and support to monitoring and donor stewardship of key grants, including report review, briefings, project summaries; - Oversee tracking and monitoring of existing grant portfolios including reporting, funds flux, individual project follow up, monitoring and evaluation, and file compilation for potential grant evaluations; - Liaise with UN agencies and other partners for biodiversity/sustainable development projects; - Provide guidance to the program coordinator to prepare proposals and grant write-ups;
-       Assist with Board preparations;
-       Update web-page content for the sustainable development web pages;
- Compose technical project report reviews and other “lessons learned” that could be used to showcase successful UNF projects, including publication in journals, magazines or other outlets. § Assist the Executive Director for Sustainable Development in activities related to design and implementation of community development initiatives, such as: - Conduct research to develop and expand market access and business incubator strategies with consultants and Executive Director; - Collect and synthesize internal and external information to facilitate the strategy implementation; - Identify and outreach to potential strategic partners for the development of partnerships that build on community development efforts;
-       Prepare concept notes and proposals for fundraising;
-       Evaluation and briefing of community proposals for funding;
-       Monitor the projects and provide support to grantees;
-       Represent the UN Foundation in relevant events and meetings.



Selection Criteria


§ Have a college or graduate (preferred) degree in sustainable development, environment, or community relations. Experience in marketing, business administration, and/or small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) business operations strongly recommended. Knowledge and experience in nature conservation and sustainable development recommended;
§   Experience in grant or project management is a plus;
§ Strong communication, analytical research, organizational and grant management skills; § Ability to develop, maintain, and enjoy effective working relationships with people from a wide variety of organizations and with a wide variety of functional expertise; § Advanced knowledge of and experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access);
§   Understanding of and willingness to work in non-profit sector;
§ Personal commitment to UNF’s vision and the ability to articulate it to others in a manner that compels them to action;
§   Self starter and faster learner;
§   Keen attention to detail;
§   Team player a must;
§   Perceptual acuity;
§   Global vision, openness and flexibility;

Compensation & Benefits


Salary commensurate with experience. Actual salary will depend on qualifications and anticipated contribution to the Foundation.

UNF pays 100% of medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance premiums for its employees and 75% of medical and vision for employees' dependents.

In addition, UNF provides 20 days of paid vacation per year, 12 paid holidays, three personal days per year, an immediately vested 150% matching 403(b) contribution up to a limit of six-percent of employee pay, Metro Pass benefits, and flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care.
