Dear Colleagues, Has anyone had experience shipping a LI-6400 portable photosynthesis system and its accessories to another country to use for a research project? I am planning to do an experiment in Japan for a few months. I have figured out most of the process, including the estimation of taxes and fees through shipping through UPS. However, they weren't able to provide an estimate of the duties or VAT tax I'll have to pay.
I also found out that they will not ship the lead-acid batteries of the LI- 6400 (unless, if I understood correctly, if they're cleared through their hazardous materials division). Has anyone been able to figure out how to ship the batteries without much hassle? Lastly, has anyone used "carnet shipping" to ship scientific equipment to another country (for a temporary period of time)? I just found out about this option yesterday through a UPS customer service representative (UPS and FedEx, though, don't offer this duty- and VAT-free option). Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Ryan Stewart [EMAIL PROTECTED]
