This is a paid internship for a recent college graduate sponsored by the
Chicago Botanic Garden in collaboration with the Bureau of Land
Management and the National Park Service. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting surveys for
BLM sensitive species (northern goshawks, mountain plover, and burrowing
owls); will monitor and verify status of Bald Eagle nests in the field
office; and map habitats for lesquerella arenosa var. agrillosa
(sidesaddle bladderpod) which will result in the development of a
population monitoring and conservation plan. 

Further responsibilities include inventory and classification of wetland
and riparian areas; identifying and classifying proper functioning
condition of the lentic and lotic systems; GPSing known raptor nest
locations throughout the field office; assist in creating/updating
wildlife database; processing grazing lease renewals and applications
for permits to drill.  Surveys for swift fox and various bat species
will be conducted as time allows.
