Acadia University's Department of Biology in association with Noreca Consulting Inc. is pleased to offer a 3-day workshop on population viability analysis (PVA) in wildlife conservation and management.
ABOUT THE COURSE: The course is open to wildlife managers, environmental planners and scientists and will provide participants with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experiences for using PVA in species conservation, decision support and planning. Participants are encouraged to suggest individual projects and will be guided through a step-by step process to facilitate learning experiences. Each day is structured around morning lectures and lab experiments in the afternoon. Students should bring their own notebooks. The course will be taught by leading experts in the field of population viability analysis including guest lectures on specific topics. WHEN: October 22-24, 2008 WHERE: Acadia University's KC Irving Environmental Science Center. Acadia University is located in the picturesque small town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia (Canada), approximately 1 hr northwest of Halifax International Airport. Wolfville has to offer a wide selection of affordable bed-and-breakfasts set up in old historic homes. For a list of places to stay please contact the workshop organizer. Halifax Stanfield International Airport serves all major cities in Eastern Canada and the U.S. Airport shuttle can be pre-arranged at a reduced rate.
