Hi Everyone
I have the opportunity to work in a team deciding the best way to spend half
million dollars in buying laboratory equipment and supplies for the biology
department in a University in Panama (Central America) that lack of modern
research equipments.
The main idea is to buy equipment that can be used for teaching purpose at
undergraduate level, but that can also be used for carrying basic research. We
need to carefully decide on equipment that does not involve huge maintenance
cost, since further money is not guaranteed.
I will appreciate any suggestion from people working in universities, perhaps
familiar with teaching undergrad courses in biology. The purpose of this
investment is to boost student and faculty interest in doing research. We dont
have any particular research area in mind at this point, but we would like to
buy equipment that can be used by as many disciplines as possible.
Any advice or suggestion on how to prepare this "wish list" will be extremely
useful
Thank you very much.
