The Department of Land Resources and Environmental Sciences at Montana State University (Bozeman) is seeking a highly energetic and capable graduate student (Ph.D. preferred) to conduct research in nutrient cycling in agricultural ecosystems with a focus on legumes. This USDA-NRI sponsored research will involve investigating the effects of various cropping systems and legume green manures on both nitrogen and energy budgets. Specifically, nitrogen fixation will be quantified through both mass balance and isotopic approaches. Background should be in soil fertility, cropping systems, chemistry, ecology, or a closely related field. The assistantship includes a monthly stipend, tuition waiver, and health insurance.
