Lanworth, Inc., a growing Chicago area software and database provider, is seeking an Agronomist. Lanworth's agronomy team develops yield and production forecasts for major agricultural commodities (corn, soybeans, wheat) at state, regional, and national levels. Individual responsibilities include:
•Conducting field assessments of crop yield and production •Developing spatial statistical frameworks for regional production estimates •Monitoring crop conditions using optical, thermal, and radar imagery •Assimilating soil, weather, management, and genetic data in to quantitative models of crop yield Qualifications include: •Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, biology, ecology, or a related discipline; graduate degree preferred. •Minimum 3-5 years' related work experience to include operational yield and production forecasting. •Expertise in crop growth modeling demonstrated through publications or research reports. •Working knowledge of statistics, satellite remote sensing, and geographic information systems. •Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX operating systems and common scripting languages.
