GRASSLAND BIRD FIELD CREW LEADER needed 1 April through 30 July, 2009 for research on grassland bird ecology in the mid-Atlantic/New England region. Crew Leader will manage a large-scale, multifaceted project assessing bird productivity at three Department of Defense (DoD) installations in MA, NJ, and MD. Duties will include task scheduling, field crew supervision, nest searching and monitoring, marking nestlings, vegetation sampling, data entry and management, and liason with DoD natural resource managers. Experience conducting avian research in early successional habitats highly desirable, preferably at the project management level (MS or equivalent). Applicants must be able to work independently and be willing to travel extensively among the study sites. Proficiency with MS Excel and ArcGIS preferred. Salary approximately $3100/month DOE, lodging and mileage reimbursement provided. Must have own vehicle. Job #2:

GRASSLAND BIRD FIELD TECHNICIANS (4) needed 14 April through 18 July, 2009 for research on grassland bird ecology in the mid-Atlantic/New England region. Three static positions will be located at research sites in MA, NJ, or MD. A fourth, "floater" position will travel among the three sites as needed. Duties will include nest searching and monitoring, marking nestlings, vegetation sampling and data entry. Experience using nest search methods in early successional habitats is highly desirable. Ability to identify grassland birds of the eastern U.S. required. Applicants must be able to work independently, and proficiency with MS Excel is preferred. Salary is approximately $2200/month DOE, lodging provided. Must have own vehicle. When travel is required, mileage reimbursement will be provided.
