Hello everyone,

I am looking for recommendations for a database management system or data
archiving system that can handle longitudinal daily data records. For
example, we have a hydrological monitoring program that maintains records
since 2000, records represent the daily mean water stage at several hundred
monitoring sites, that have been interpolated and assigned to a grid with
405 rows and 287 columns. Each cell in this grid represent a 400 x 400
meter area.

Our modeling goals are to use these data along with a much larger and
broader suite of environmental data to conduct vegetation and wildlife
simulations that are being designed to address adaptive management
decisions.

So I am looking to see if there are any substantial data management systems
available that can handle this kind of volume of data. Currently the
hydrological data is stored in netCDF, however it requires advanced users
to ensure access to the data.

Are there alternatives?

Thanks
Steve
