Very recently, the Department of Biology received the opportunity to
award several additional doctoral assistantships for the semester
starting in January. These teaching assistantships are for students
that can join the department's doctoral program in Environmental and
Evolutionary Biology in the spring semester of 2009.  These
assistantships carry a stipend of $14,200 for the 9 month academic
year and a waiver of all tuition and most fees.  Doctoral students
joining use in the spring semester are also given full consideration
for departmental and university fellowships that are usually awarded
for students starting in the fall.   Because of the short time before
the start of the semester, interested applicants are asked to contact
