*Ecologist Position – Biology Department, Portland State University*


The Department of Biology at Portland State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Ecology at the assistant professor level. We seek an individual using experimental and/or theoretical approaches to the study of ecology at the population to ecosystem scales. We encourage applications from individuals with interests that complement existing departmental strengths in ecology/evolution, microbiology, and physiology and university focus on sustainability. Minimum qualification is a Ph.D. in biology, with priority given to candidates with postdoctoral experience and who have demonstrated success in developing a research program through publications or external funding. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate interdisciplinary courses in the nationally-recognized University Studies program, in subjects of the successful candidate’s choosing. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally-funded research program, be effective in teaching at the undergraduate level, and participate in the training of graduate students in our masters and Ph.D. programs.
