A minor correction to Adam's post, which otherwise I endorse. Leave just the
material to which you are replying, not the full chain of messages leading
up to it.
It is also annoying to see a reply to a message you don't remember, without
the context. I find it especially confusing on another list where I
sometimes see a posting that begins "Bill is totally wrong about this!"
without the original message presenting the "this", and eventually I figure
out that it refers to something I didn't bother to read by another Bill.
Postings should be brief, but long enough to be coherent.
