REASEARCH ASSISTANTS NEEDED: Two (2) field assistants needed from 15 February to 15 May to conduct vegetation surveys and ecosystem monitoring in forests dominated by exotic and invasive species in Hilo, HI. Duties will consist of field and laboratory work, including forest community censuses, plant identification, collection and processing of forest leaf litter. A portion of the project will include backpacking and camping in remote areas of Hawai’i Island for up to 5 days. Applicants must be eager to work in inclement weather on steep slopes and over difficult terrain. A stipend of $500/mo will be provided, as well as housing, and airfare to Hawai’i (by reimbursement up to $1000). Start and end dates may be negotiable.
