Invasive Plant Response Team

Point Reyes National Seashore and Golden Gate National Recreation Area (San
Francisco Bay Area, California ) will be hiring two interns to assist with
invasive plant removal and early detection mapping. If you are excited to
take on challenging fieldwork, be responsible for important invasive
species control work, learn GPS and mapping techniques, and work in two
spectacular national parks, please contact us. Prior mapping or plant
removal experience is welcomed but not necessary, as long as you have the
ability to learn new skills and work hard.

Interns must be willing and able to work full field days in difficult field
conditions, sometimes as a team without additional staff. Please don’t
apply if you have any hesitation about working in dense poison-oak several
days a week. We will provide personal protective equipment. Remote sites,
steep terrain, dense vegetation, and cold, wet, or hot weather are part of
the job, as is the chance to work with several park managers, interns, and
dedicated volunteers.

Shared park housing and $125/week meal reimbursement will be provided.
Housing will be at Point Reyes until late April or early May and at Golden
Gate for the reminder of the internship. Interns may need to commute
between the parks in a personal vehicle (mileage costs will be reimbursed).

To apply, please send a letter of interest, resume, and three references to
Andrea Williams, 1063 Fort Cronkhite , Sausalito CA 94965 by February
9, 2009 . Interviews will be conducted in February and internships will
start in mid-March (ending in mid-July or August, depending on final
costs). You will need to be fingerprinted and pass a government background
investigation. A valid driver’s license is required.
