Postdoctoral Fellowship: The Ecology of Temperate Forests in China

The Smithsonian Institution’s Center for Tropical Forest Science (CTFS), in
partnership with the Chinese Forest Biodiversity Monitoring Network
(CForBio), seeks a postdoctoral fellow in the ecology of temperate forests.
CTFS and CForBio are partnering to investigate the long-term dynamics of
temperate forests in China. CTFS coordinates a network of large-scale
long-term forest research plots in 16 tropical and 4 temperate countries.
CForBio coordinates 5 large-scale forest research plots in China. The
fellowship is part of the HSBC Climate Partnership
(www.hsbccommittochange.com). Candidates for this 2-year position are sought
in the areas of community and population ecology, climate change biology,
and forestry. The position will involve synthesis and analysis of new and
existing data on the long-term dynamics of temperate forests and requires a
strong analytical background. The position will be based at CTFS-Harvard but
will involve time at CForBio and in other CTFS offices. Candidates should
have an established record of research and scholarly publication.
