Project Title: Wild Turkey Restoration in the Mississippi Delta
Responsibilities: Student will be responsible for collecting radio
telemetry data on habitat use, survival, and reproductive success of
released wild turkeys in three selected study sites in the northern
Mississippi Delta and studying wild turkey habitat distribution in the
Delta with habitat suitability models. The doctorial student also will
supervise a field technician, organize field work, and help write project
progress reports.
Qualifications: 1. B.S. and M.S. in wildlife ecology, wildlife
management, animal ecology, or related field.
2. GPA ≥ 3.0 and GRE scores
3. Keen interest in conducting research on the
management of wild turkeys.
4. Experience with radio telemetry and ability to
operate trucks, ATVs, and GPS. GIS knowledge and
skill are desired.
5. Capability to work in the Mississippi Delta
indepedently.
Starting Date: July 1, 2009 or negotiable
Stipend: Starting $21,000 per annum plus complete waiver of
tuition fees.
