The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) manages 8.4 million acres of public lands in Colorado. These lands are managed for a multitude of uses including, but not limited to, recreation, energy production, mining, wildlife habitat and livestock grazing. Along with these 8.4 million acres, BLM Colorado oversees 27.3 million subsurface acres for mineral development. BLM Colorado employees are working hard with our partners, stakeholders, customers, elected officials, and the general public to restore and maintain the health of Colorado's public lands. The incumbent serves as a temporary Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist at the trainee level in Meeker, Colorado. Provides GIS support and advice for application of geospatial technology. This position is responsible for the acquisition and management of the wide range of spatial information required to support the management of public lands. The incumbent must have an effective mix of technical skills in the geographic and computer science disciplines as well as a working appreciation of the Bureau mission and operational procedures sufficient to support Bureau of Land Management (BLM) business activities.
