Summer Research Assistant: Experimental Landscape Ecology and Plant-Animal
Interactions
Savannah River Site, South Carolina
 
Job Description: Research assistant needed from late May to August to help
with field research examining they ways in which habitat corridors affect
interspecific interactions and population dynamics of longleaf pine savanna
plants.  Duties will include daily field work such as transplantation of
plants, plant care, morphological measurements, conducting plant surveys and
insect trapping, as well as data management.
 
Qualifications: Applicants should be undergraduates or recent college
graduates, preferably with field experience and coursework in ecology,
botany and/or entomology. Applicants should also be detail oriented and
familiar with spreadsheet software (MS Excel). In addition, applicants must
be willing to endure rigorous field conditions and long days outdoors, often
in hot and humid weather.
 
Enthusiastic individuals in good health are encouraged to apply. Because the
Savannah River Site is a highly secure area run by the U.S. Department of
Energy, non-United States citizens may have difficulty gaining clearance to
work there. 

Opportunities for an independent project are available, as well as the
possibility of collaborations on projects with graduate students and PIs
