Title: GIS and Water Resources Technician
Institution: Alabama A&M University Location: The Flint River Watershed (Madison County, Alabama) Job Description and Qualifications: This is a 6 month temporary position starting June 1st 2009. The focus of the job will be to further develop a geodatabase for the Flint river watershed (Madison county, Al) for a larger project on the impact of urbanization on water quality and quantity in the Flint river watershed. Work may also include ground truthing, data collection, landscape analysis, and online map serving development. Qualified applicants must have excellent qualitative skills to organize and analyze large demographic, water and land use datasets. A bachelor’s degree in an environment-related field, such as biology, geography, environmental planning, or environmental science, is required. Applicant must have a strong background in ArcGIS, preferable ArcServer. One or more years professional experience in GIS is preferred. Skills with relational databases, web design/programming, cartography, and/or graphic design are also helpful. Attention to detail and concern for accuracy are important.
