*Ecology of Infectious Disease Postdoctoral Researcher* sought to join a
multidisciplinary research program examining the ecology of emerging
tick-borne diseases of humans. This position focuses on babesiosis,
which is caused by a protozoal parasite closely related to /Theileria/
and /Plasmodium/. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Felicia Keesing.
The postdoc will lead efforts to determine how changes in the community
of vertebrate hosts for ticks affect tick infection with /Babesia
microti/. She or he will oversee a lab technician conducting real-time
PCR to detect the pathogen in ticks collected from a diversity of
vertebrate species. The postdoc will be based at Bard College in
Annandale, NY and the nearby Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in
Millbrook, NY. A Ph.D. and excellent laboratory skills are required.
Desired start date is September 2009, for a 1-year term with the
