Hello Everyone: I have compiled lists of species found in the areas local to La MICA Biological Station (www.lamica.org; El Copé, Coclé, Republic of Panama). Although many taxa have not been studied comprehensively, I have put together lists from a Rapid Ecological Assessment (2000), published papers, unpublished reports, personal accounts, and accounts from knowledgeable local people.. I currently have a list for: *Vascular plants *Aquatic invertebrates (includes some fishes, also) *Amphibians *Reptiles *Birds *Mammals As snake ecologist by training, my knowledge of some tropical taxa is incomplete and not up-to-date. I am seeking volunteers to read through the lists that I have compiled and check for: *spelling errors *taxonomic changes or modifications *species that seem as unlikely residents to this region *species that have been reported, but are not included on the list *completeness of names (when possible, including standard common names in English and Spanish) The species lists will be posted on our website (www.lamica.org) Species page (see our list of birds [English and Spanish common names]) and will be available at La MICA Biological Station. The reviewer can chose to have their name included on the species list and future involvement with checklists, species documentation, and publications are likely possibilities, if desired. It will be valuable to La MICA Biological Station if the reviewer (or anyone) can provide a list of relevant references, especially if used while reviewing the species list. I also welcome any reports, personal species lists, or photographs from the El Copé area. Visits from researchers or students to help us improve our species lists also can be arranged.
