M.S. Graduate Assistantship Development of a real-time aquatic resource biomonitoring tool using bioacoustics. Murray State University, Department of Biological Sciences.
Scope: M.S. graduate assistantship is available for a biomonitoring project of streams and wetlands in the department of Biological Sciences at Murray State University. The research project will develop novel methods of biomonitoring using in-situ sounds and supercomputers. Research will be conducted primarily at the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area (LBL). In addition, the research involves a unique opportunity to work with the US Forest Service during the summer seasons and requires the successful applicant to be outgoing, enthusiastic about informal science education, and be motivated to work with the environmental education center at LBL. In addition to a summer stipend, free housing will be available at LBL in the summer and at Hancock Biological field station during the academic year. Qualifications: Applicants should be interested in freshwater ecology, conservation, biomonitoring, education and should be able to work independently in the lab and field. Experience with field sampling in remote locations, statistics and an undergraduate degree in ecology, zoology, or closely related field is a plus. Review of applications will begin immediately.
