Postdoctoral researcher, Isolated Wetland Ecology and Conservation
The Department of Forestry and Natural Resources at Clemson University is seeking candidates for a post-doctoral biologist/ecologist to work on an EPA-funded project to develop remote detection methods, field assessment system, and spatial analyses of landscape function for isolated wetlands in the Blue Ridge/Piedmont region of South Carolina. The applicant will work closely with a team of Clemson researchers including undergraduate and graduate students and a GIS Research Analyst. In addition to coordinating and executing the field measurements portion of the study, the candidate will help refine remote detection models, analyze data, and write papers, and will have the opportunity to pursue their own areas of interest. The following skills, aptitudes, or interests are preferred: conservation biology of small isolated wetlands, collection and analysis of GIS data, leadership and team-management, and general community ecology, particularly community assembly and metacommunity ecology. A Ph.D. in Ecology, Environment Science, or closely related field is required. The position is based at top-ranked Clemson University in the Piedmont/Foothills region of South Carolina, is for 2 years, and pays $32,000/year plus benefits.
