I.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG) (www.imsg.com) is looking for highly 
motivated individuals to join our team efforts to support 
NOAA/NESDIS/Center for Satellite Applications Research (STAR).  IMSG is 
currently seeking to hire a Scientific Analyst/Physical Scientist 
(satellite sensor calibration) to support NOAA STAR in Camp Springs, MD.

IMSG supports STAR in applied science research and development efforts in 
a semi-research and semi-operational working environment along with U.S. 
government scientists, visiting scientists, and other contractors.  There 
are a number of openings to provide multi-year scientific and technical 
support to STAR, located in Camp Springs, Maryland, and Silver Spring, 
Maryland, in applied science research and development for critical, 
current, and future (such as GOES-R, NPOESS, etc.) national meteorological 
geostationary and polar-orbiting satellite programs.  Ideal candidates 
possess advanced degrees in physical sciences, remote sensing, astronomy, 
physics, mathematics, and computer science, etc., and/or have 
sophisticated programming skills in IDL/Matlab, C/C++ or Fortran.  
Experience in relevant fields is generally required.  

Duties:

•       Support lead NOAA/NESDIS scientists in developing the methodology, 
algorithm theoretical basis, and systems for the accurate satellite 
instrument calibration to meet the challenging requirements of global 
climate change monitoring and numerical weather prediction. 
•       Analyze satellite instrument performance data, calibration data, 
and evaluate their effects on satellite products.
•       Support prelaunch and postlaunch calibration of satellite 
radiometers
•       Develop and implement data quality assurance systems and 
procedures.
•       Disseminate results to the scientific and user community through 
publications and conferences.

Qualifications:

•       Masters Degree or Ph.D. degree in physical science or engineering, 
such as physics, astronomy, electrical/electronic engineering, and earth 
sciences.
•       Strong physics and math background.
•       Skills in satellite remote sensing data processing and analysis.
•       Excellent communication including writing and presentation skills 
is a major plus.
•       Software skills in IDL/Matlab and C/Fortran.
•       U. S. permanent residency or citizenship preferred.
