Graduate Assistantships (M.A. or Ph.D. level) are available in the
Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Kansas.
I am seeking highly motivated students interested in experimental community
ecology, grassland biodiversity and restoration. Research opportunities
exist within the context of an NSF-funded study testing alternative models
of plant community assembly and using grasslands as a model study system.
Students will be encouraged to develop research projects related to one or
more of the following related themes: community assembly, ecological
succession, species coexistence and biodiversity, metacommunity dynamics,
disturbance ecology, biological invasions, community and ecosystem
restoration, impacts of climate change.

Successful applicants are guaranteed financial support (2 years for M.A., 5
years for Ph.D). The department also provides support for travel to attend
and present results at national and international meetings. Additional funds
to support graduate student research are available through the departmental
endowment.

Positions are available for an August 2010 start date.
