The Department of Biology at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning September 1, 2010. Applicants must have been awarded their Ph.D. by September 1, 2010, and post-doctoral experience is strongly preferred. We seek a marine or environmental microbiologist who will complement our departments existing strengths in marine biology, ecology, and evolution (www.umassd.edu/cas/biology), although candidates with other expertise are encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant would be expected to develop an extramurally-funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students. The opportunity exists to advise Ph.D. students through University of Massachusetts Intercampus Graduate Programs in Marine Science and Biomedical Engineering/Biotechnology. The successful applicant would be expected to teach general and discipline-specific courses to undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a description of teaching or instructional experience, a description of research experience and plans, and arrange for submission of three letters of recommendation.
