Description:
Spend a year in Southern Nevada working with the Red Rock Canyon
Interpretive Association providing environmental educational programs at Red
Rock Canyon and in Clark County Schools. Gain applied teaching and
curriculum development experience while pioneering a critical education
program in the Las Vegas area. This is a great opportunity to gain
experience in the field of environmental education and provide a lasting
contribution to the environment and youth of Nevada.

Compensation:
This is an AmeriCorps position, and candidates will receive a living stipend
of $17,212 for the year. This is not an hourly wage or a salary and is paid
to members bi-monthly throughout the entire year. Upon completion of
AmeriCorps service, members shall receive an additional education award in
the amount of $4,725 that can be used for paying off student loans, or
paying tuition for a Title IV accredited college.

Timeline: January 4, 2010 – November 30, 2010

Description:
Responsible for developing, scheduling, and presenting Environmental
Education programs. Additional duties as assigned may include participation
in physical work projects. Skills Required:
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
• Basic computer ability in Windows format;
• Ability to develop Environmental Education programs with Clark County
curriculum standards;
• Ability to write Pre & Post program lesson plans;
• Ability to teach informal education programs in both classroom and outdoor
settings;
• Experience managing 30-70 K-5 children in an outdoor and or classroom setting;
• Knowledge of Mojave Desert and related ecosystems.

Education & Experience:
4 yr Degree in related field is preferable.

Requirements:
Must have a current drivers license and be able to obtain CPR & First Aid
Certification within 3 months of employment. Attend Career Development
Trainings.

Training:
• Volunteer Management Training
• First Aid/CPR Training
• Additional training will be provided by Red Rock Canyon Interpretive
Association.

Americorps Qualifications:
To qualify, you must be at least 17 years of age and a US citizen that has
received a high school
diploma or GED (or be willing to achieve this before using education award).
All offers of employment are conditional upon completion of an acceptable
check of the National Sex Offender Public Registry.
