I am a graduate student at the University of Missouri. I am searching for a
field assistant this
spring/ summer (mid April - mid June). This is a volunteer position (no
stipend), but most meals
and all lodging will be covered.

I study acoustic communication and behavior in the canyon treefrog in the
southwest US. We will
be working in two main sites (one in the Grand Canyon and one in Zion National
Park). Work will
mostly consist of searching for pairs of mating frogs and testing female frogs
in behavioral assays
at night.I am looking for someone with an interest in behavioral ecology,
amphibians and field
work and someone who can withstand being fairly isolated for long stretches of
time with the
same person (me...but I promise I am nice :) ). Applicant must also be easy
going and able to
handle boredom during the day (as all the work is for only a few hours at
night). They must also
be unafraid of handling frogs.

Also, the applicant MUST be able to either meet me in Arizona or Missouri
(where we will then
drive to Arizona). The transportation to the site (or to Missouri) is the
assistant's responsibility.

Although this position does not pay, the locations are beautiful, the research
can be interesting,
and the frogs are very cool.
