Dear Colleagues, dear friends,

recently I have started an internship with the journal GAIA - Ecological Perspectives for Science and Society.

I am deeply impressed by the quality of the journal, and would like to ask all of you who are interested in and concerned about global problems to consider publishing in this journal and help it build up a larger global readership. So far, its main reach are German-speaking countries, even though about half of its articles are in English.

Don't be mislead by the word GAIA - the journal has nothing to do with spirituality, but everything with urgent global ecological problems. Global change challenges science, and to find solutions, science has to cross disciplinary boundaries and to dismantle barriers between science, education and politics. This is exactly what the journal GAIA tries to accomplish. It provides a discussion forum for transdisciplinary research, and presents research that is important beyond one single narrow field. The contributions are innovative, action-oriented and written in a comprehensible style. GAIA offers first-hand information on new environmental research and on current solutions to environmental problems.

If you seek to publish research papers concerned with environmental and sustainability problems and their solutions, and if you want to become part of a community of scientists who think beyond their own research projects, then please consider publishing in GAIA. Since 2005 GAIA has been listed as an ISI-Journal.

Please check out the journal GAIA at
http://www.oekom.de/etc/gaia.html.

If you are interested in submitting a manuscript, then please check out the guidelines for authors here: http://www.oekom.de/etc/gaia/guide-for-authors.html.

As in every scientific journal, manuscripts are peer-reviewed, and an invitation to submit a manuscript therefore does not guarantee publication.

Thank you for considering publishing in GAIA,

Best regards,

Maiken Winter
