Old-growth and Primeval Forests: Ecology, Conservation and Management
International Conference August 9-13, 2010, Sundsvall, Sweden Significant areas of the northern hemisphere's forests remain in old-growth or primary conditions. These forests not only harbor unique conservation and recreational values, but provide many other ecosystem services and also provide important reference areas critical to our understanding of forest structure, composition and processes. The scientific scope of this conference will gather researchers, administrators, and conservation managers from a wide spectrum of regions and disciplines. Results will aid in designing scientifically well-founded strategies to deal with current threats to forest biodiversity, climate mitigation, and the other ecosystem services these forests provide. The scientific organizing committee and keynote speakers include researchers from across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. The scientific program of the conference will include plenary lectures, oral presentations, and poster sessions. The abstract deadline is April 1, 2010.
