I am looking to recruit one M.S. student for Fall 2010 to work on
population-level genetic diversity in freshwater snails. The student will
screen ISSR primers for use with the pleurocerid snail Elimia potosiensis as
part of a larger project examining the genetic and environmental components
of shell shape.

Pending available funds, the student will receive an $8,000 teaching
assistantship plus full tuition waiver for at least two years.
Assistantships are available on a competitive basis.

More information on my lab can be found at http://www.ulm.edu/~minton.
Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA and 1000 M+V GRE score.
Since assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis, the higher the GPA
and GRE the better. Note that these values are higher than ULM's minimum
graduate admissions standards.

Applicants must also have experience with standard DNA methods including
extraction, PCR amplification, and agarose gel electrophoresis. At least one
reference/recommendation must speak to the student's ability in the lab.

Interested students can contact me directly at [email protected] and browse to
our departmental website http://www.ulm.edu/biology.
