Invasive Species Outreach Coordinator
Description of Duties:

Incumbent will facilitate communication, education, outreach, and marketing 
endeavors related to the Exotic Species Component of the Great Lakes 
Restoration Initiative for audiences in Great Lakes National Parks and those 
outside of national parks across the Great Lakes Region.  This is a GS-9, two 
year term position stationed at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

o       Assists in the development of specific strategic messages on invasive 
exotic species to be folded into the interpretation/education/and outreach 
efforts at each of eleven Great Lakes national parks.

o       Researches and prepares content of interpretive and educational media 
focusing on the history of the exotic species invasions, agency management 
programs, ecological implications in a local, regional and national context, 
and ways citizens can act to reduce the impacts of non-native invasive species.

o       Assists in the development and implementation of a marketing plan, 
performing the research necessary to identify local and regional businesses, 
organizations, governmental units, etc. who would assist with the dissemination 
of invasive exotic species messages and messaging products to their 
constituents.

o       Serves as a liaison with Harper's Ferry Center, marketing firms, 
production vendors, procurement, artists and graphic specialists, translators, 
and subject matter experts.

o       Prepares media releases and works with television, radio, and other 
news media to highlight invasive species issues in coordination with park 
public information specialists.

o       Schedules and delivers presentations on invasive exotic species for 
meetings, workshops, training sessions, and conferences sponsored by local, 
regional, and national organizations.  Coordinates the scheduling and 
transportation of traveling exhibits to similar venues across the Great Lakes 
Region.
