SEDGE & RUSH ID Workshop @ Louisiana State University May 19-21, 2010. Workshop will consist of an intensive, hands-on approach with two days of classroom work and one day of field study. The workshop will focus on sedges and rushes (Cyperaceae and Juncaceae). In the workshop you will learn to use interactive keys making identification easier than with traditional keys. Workshop participants will learn the specialized terminology and distinguishing features and habitat affinities for these species. The sedge genus Carex will receive special attention. Most sedges and rushes are important wetland indicators. Prior experience in plant taxonomy or botany is not a requirement. Additionally, please ensure that you can install applications to your laptop, as we will provide a tutorial on interactive key writing using Lucid 3.5 or equivalent application.
