To try answering your questions...
1. Some individual turtles get caught in fishing gears and die. We are
investigating how much this affects the population as a whole.
2. Interesting question. Honestly I don't know.
3. We suspect tourism has an effect on the sea turtle. At least locally, on
some fairly heavily visited sites. We are also investigating that question.
4. A large scale monitoring program was carried out by the Galapagos
National Park during the years 2000's. This program was reactivated in 2009
and is now a priority for both the Galapagos National Park and the Charles
Darwin Foundation.
5. Difficult question... I can't tell you much here...
