One database with good ecological coverage is Agricola
(http://agricola.nal.usda.gov/). This is a database of the US National
Agricultural Library, but I believe access is free from anywhere. It
is designed for agricultural literature, but that overlaps
considerably with ecological literature and they index many important
ecology journals (for example Ecology, Ecological Monographs, Ecology
Letters, Oikos, Oecologia, Functional Ecology) as well as
ecologically-relevant journals in various areas of organismal biology
(for example American Journal of Botany, Microbial Ecology, Annual
Review of Entomology) and leading journals of broad readership
(Science, Nature, PNAS-USA).
The list 1222 journals indexed (complete list at
http://www.nal.usda.gov/indexing/cgi-bin/searchcarold1x.cgi).

Quoting VOLTOLINI <[email protected]>:
Dear friends,
In my University I cannot access several ecology journals and also
some important reference databasis like the Biological Abstracts.
I would like to know if there is a good and free reference database
to search ecological articles.
Thanks for any help!
