Smithsonian summer internship
The Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (SCBI) has an immediate opening for an intern to participate in the monitoring of a long-term temperate forest plot, as part of the Smithsonian’s Global Earth Observatory (SIGEO) initiative (more information about SIGEO at http://www.sigeo.si.edu/<https://webaccess.si.edu/OWA/redir.aspx?C=4419f0c009014131a4267ab456ef9ac9&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.sigeo.si.edu%2f>). The intern will help with coring trees, measuring tree rings, conducting seedling surveys, and collecting and processing soil samples and leaf litters etc. in the 25ha forest plot located at the SCBI campus in Front Royal, VA. This is a three month appointment that comes with a $600 per month stipend, free housing at SCBI, and the possibility of extension. The ideal start date would be during June and we will consider applications as soon as they arrive.
