Hello Ecolog,

The National Park Service is looking for someone with herp expertise and good writing skills to assist with the completion of three reptile and amphibian inventory reports (for Assateague Island National Seashore, Minute Man National Historical Park, and Saratoga National Historical Park). The contractor – i.e., the individual actually performing the work for this project – must be someone with a master’s degree in wildlife biology, significant (>3 years) reptile and amphibian experience, and a track record of publication of articles and reports (first author on at least 5 wildlife publications with at least 2 specifically related to reptiles and amphibians).

The contractor will complete 3 reptile and amphibian inventory reports that are currently in draft form. The final reports will match the level of detail and format of the completed Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site report. The contractor will be provided with draft reports and databases for each park, and will need to review the data to make sure that the information in the draft report matches the database. The contractor will then need to complete the report to match the standards of the Saint-Gaudens report. NPS will provide assistance with data management and GIS (e.g., production of figures). In addition, Robert Cook (NPS Wildlife Biologist stationed at Cape Cod National Seashore) will be available for periodic consultations over the course of this project. Robert was involved with the planning and oversight of the data collection phase of this inventory, and is a main author on reptile and amphibian inventory reports for several parks. The contractor should not expect to have primary authorship on these new reports. The project must be completed within 9 months of the award date of the contract.

Complete bid packages are due by close of business, Friday, June 18, 2010. Please e-mail [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> or [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> for complete details and requirements.

Thanks,

Brian Mitchell
