To honor and promote the use of the visual arts in ecological research, education and outreach, the ESA Student Section has put together the third annual Eco-Arts Festival to take place at ESA's annual meeting in Pittsburgh.
As part of the Festival, ESA members submitted photos for the Eco-Photo Competition, and a judging panel made up of professional ecologists and photographers chose the top 3 winning images, which will receive cash prizes, commemorative plaques, and professional photo printing gift certificates (generously donated by Art for Conservation & Fine Print Imaging). Now, the Student Section would like you to help choose the "ESA People's Choice Eco-Photo" winner by voting on your best image. You can do so before the ESA annual meeting, or on-site at the Student Section's booth in the exhibit hall. To do so before the conference, you will need a Facebook account. -Log in to Facebook, look up "ESA Student Section," and click on the 'Photos' tab on the ESA Student Section page. (Or, go directly to: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=4239397781&v=photos&ref=ts). -The first 22 pictures in the photo album are Eco-Photo Competition entries, are marked as such, and their accompanying descriptive information is located below each picture. -Vote on your best photo by "like" under the photo. Rules for voting: 1. Voting open to all ESA members 2. Vote only for one photo Things to consider when judging the entries: creativity, technical quality, artistic value (eg. composition, color, texture), research value, educational value, and communication value. The winner will be announced at the ESA Student Choice Award Ceremony to take place on Tue, Aug 3rd, 11:30 am to 1:15 pm in Rm 323 of David L Lawrence Convention Center.
